Musical Heritage
Homecoming Tour

Musical Heritage Homecoming Tour,
Saturday, August 31st, beginning at the Old Mill Music Park at 10am. Murals unveiled at 1pm.

Visit the places where ballads were born, stories shared, and many of the Old Time standards were written. Find the homeplaces of the people who preserved, passed on, and carried forward the musical traditions that became the basis of modern Country music. Maps will be available to guide you through your visit to heritage sites throughout the county, each with live music.

This year's tour will begin at the Old Mill with Kody Norris and friends playing in tribute to G.B. Grayson
(performances at 10am and 11:15am)

The next stop will be the Mural Unveiling at Farmers State Bank on Church Street at 1pm with the performances by the Long Journey Home House Band and the JAM Band.

Then on to the Tom Ashley homeplace where Kenny Price and Jerry Moses will perform Clarence "Tom" Ashley's traditional clawhammer banjo style right on his front porch from 2:30 to 3:30

The Day ends at the
Fred Price Homeplace with the Piney Woods Boys sharing tales and songs from the folk revival in honor of Doc Watson, Clint Howard and Fred Price at 4pm. Lois always makes Soup Beans and Corn Bread and Apple Butter Biscuits.  An open jam will last into the evening. Bring a quilt or lawnchair and an instrument if you play. Enjoy a laid back evening of music and mountain air with friends and family.
